Introduction

Tauck, a global leader in deluxe escorted travel experiences, is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Operations Manager, Italy to support the successful delivery of its premium journeys. This full-time role is central to ensuring that Tauck’s Italian tours operate seamlessly, meeting the company’s high standards for quality, accuracy, and guest satisfaction.

The Operations Manager works closely with Product Managers, Tauck Directors, suppliers, internal teams, and guests to coordinate all day-to-day operational needs across assigned journeys.

Role Overview

The Operations Manager, Italy is responsible for managing, maintaining, and communicating all operational elements that support Tauck journeys from planning through post-tour activities. This role ensures that accurate information, materials, and systems are in place to support the sale, execution, and continuous improvement of tour products.

In addition, the Operations Manager plays a key role in supplier relations, tour start-ups, training trips, and global response management within the region.

Key Responsibilities

Tour Operations Management

  • Manage daily operational needs for assigned Tauck journeys, ensuring smooth execution throughout the season

  • Execute all operational components of the Open for Sale process, including Athena setup, Day-by-Day itineraries, “Need to Know” content, ePDocs, and transfers

  • Enter and maintain pricing details, including pre- and post-tour options, join/leave pricing, and cabin inventory

  • Review cross-departmental ePDocs content and test outsourced systems to ensure accurate content transmission

Documentation and Communication

  • Create and maintain all Tour Director documents and operational collateral

  • Arrange and facilitate season start-up and season-end teleconferences

  • Communicate operational changes clearly throughout the season

  • Resolve day-to-day operational issues in collaboration with Tour Directors and suppliers

Systems and Inventory Management

  • Create and manage inventory, including added departure dates

  • Update hotel and supplier systems, cost updates post-contracting, and exception screens

  • Maintain cross-sell screens and final pricing sheets

  • Support Product and Yield teams in procuring or releasing inventory as needed

Supplier and Partner Relations

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and regional partners

  • Ensure timely and accurate supplier communications, including manifests, reconfirmations, sales updates, and status reports

  • Follow up on supplier contracts, system updates, and fulfillment requirements

  • Arrange and lead pre-con meetings and training trips for new or starting tours

Customer Experience and Post-Tour Support

  • Support customer satisfaction goals by assisting Product Managers in responding to guest feedback and correspondence

  • Assist Global Response (GR) teams with post-tour communications, including guest comment cards, supplier feedback, and Director reports

  • Support financial and operational adjustments related to join/leave changes or operating updates

Global Response and Additional Duties

  • Support global response management needs within the region, including after-hours support when required

  • Participate in weekend duty management rotation up to two times per year

  • Fulfill internal employee reservations and departmental administrative needs

  • Execute brand- or region-specific requirements as assigned

Skills and Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business-related discipline preferred

  • 1–3 years of proven operations experience, or 2–4 years of related professional experience

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft Office tools
